Each year on Halloween, West Islip residents flock to the Oquenock Elementary School to observe the annual parade around the front of the building as staff members dress in a common theme and accompany their students dressed in holiday garb. This year, Principal Michelle D’Amour and staff became characters of Star Wars. Some students joined forces to form a galactic empire-feel to the gathering by dressing as R2-D2, Darth Vader and Jedi. Star Wars fans were delighted to see Princess Leia, Obi Wan Kenobi and Chewbacca in the lineup. The community, just as in past years, was not disappointed.
