A professional auto technician by trade, Jeffrey Hodgkiss loved anything to do with cars. He could often be found attending car shows or refinishing his beloved antique ‘56 Chevy.

Jeffrey Hodgkiss died October 24, 2005 after battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was 49 years old.

"He wanted people to know that he fought bravely for those six years," said his wife, Susan.

Mr. Hodgkiss, who lived in North Babylon for 15 years, was born and raised in nearby Farmingdale. In addition to his love of automobiles, he also loved 50’s era style of dress and music.

Mr. Hodgkiss leaves behind his wife of 18 years, Susan; his son Jon; his father John; his siblings: Ken and Nancy; as well as his aunt Jeanie and uncle Robert. He was predeceased by his mother, Marion.

Mr. Hodgkiss reposed at the Frederick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home. A service was held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Bay Shore on October 29, 2005 followed by interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Pinelawn, New York.

Donations in Mr. Hodgkiss’ name can be made to the ALS Association, Greater New York Chapter, 116 John Street, Suit 1304, New York, NY 10038.
