Evelyn "Lynne" Nicholas, a longtime Babylon resident, died August 26, 2005 after a battle against ovarian cancer. She was 80 years old.

Born in Brooklyn to Paul and Laura Nurkiewicz, she married Dr. Calvin Nicholas after they met at Cornell University. Dr. and Mrs. Nicholas then settled in Babylon until "Dr. Cal’s" retirement when they moved to Coral Springs, Florida in 1987.

According to her family, she loved sports, which served her well as Dr. Cal was team physician for the New York Jets for 25 years. She was also a positive role model, unselfish and a real "lady" said her family.

Mrs. Nicholas leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Calvin; her children: Chris and his wife Mary, Connie Carberg and her husband John and Bruce; as well as her nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Nicholas reposed at the Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1655 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, Florida on August 30, 2005. A mass of Christian burial was held August 31, 2005 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 9950 N.W. 29th Street, Coral Springs, Florida.
