John Nash, Babylon educator and WWII Veteran

Longtime Babylon resident John Nash worked as a teacher in the Babylon School District for 29 years. He was a math teacher in Babylon’s High School until his retirement in 1977.

John B. Nash, of Palm Harbor, Florida died October 24, 2005. He was 88 years old. He moved from Babylon to Florida in 1993.

Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, he served in the Army Air Force during World War II as a navigator with the 380th Bomb Group. He later retired from the Air Force reserves in which he served many years on Long Island.

Mr. Nash leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Lauraine and his children: Bruce of Stony Brook, New York; Peter of Palm Harbor, Florida and Janice of Palm Harbor, Florida. Also surviving are his five grandchildren; his siblings: Carolyn of Memphis, Tennessee and Richard of Watertown, Massachusetts.

A celebration of his life was said at Palm Harbor United Methodist Church on November 4, 2005, followed by a full military honors burial in Bay Pines National Cemetery at Bay Pines, Florida.
