Keep Islip Clean volunteers pitch-in with International Coastal Cleanup
Several Keep Islip Clean (KIC) sponsored groups recently participated in the American Littoral Society/Ocean Conservancy Annual International Coastal Cleanup. KIC would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank these groups for their efforts and dedication to the preservation of our coastlines and waterways.
Fourteen KIC sponsored groups cleaned 11 sites throughout Islip Township collecting an estimated 2,287 pounds of litter and debris. The top three items found at the beaches were cigarette butts, cap/lids and food wrappers/containers.
Captains Grace McGorry, Jean Keane, Robin Forencz Kotfica, Danny Schmidt, Louise Febrizio, Adriana Navara, Patricia Riche, Peggy O’Neill, Holly Michaels, Bruce Ridulfo, Linda Niles, Karen Zronik, Lisa Michaels, Miriam Schuessler and Andrew Joye helped coordinate the 124 volunteers and oversaw their sites.
For information on how you can be involved with KIC activities call the KIC office at 631-224-2627 or visit the KIC website at keepislipclean.org.
