Good Samaritan’s V.P. of Public and External Affairs named one of L.I.’s Top 50 Women
Christine Hendriks, vice president of public and external affairs at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, was named one of Long Island’s Top 50 Women by Long Island Business News at a recent reception held at the Crest Hollow Country Club. Hendriks was recruited to Good Samaritan in 2003 to establish an industry-leading public relations and marketing effort. In this capacity she reports to the president and CEO of the Medical Center and works directly with its board of trustees. She has restructured the public affairs department, establishing a referral and information line allowing for accurate tracking and measurement of marketing effectiveness and developed a major public relations initiative to promote and raise awareness of the vital programs and services offered by Good Samaritan to the surrounding community.
Hendriks also leads the public affairs office at St. Charles Hospital, working on its public relations, marketing, special events, community health and development.
Prior to joining Good Samaritan, Hendriks managed the external affairs department at South Nassau Communities Hospital where she was the "voice" of South Nassau. She currently serves as the voice for Good Samaritan in its public service announcements and radio commercials.
Hendriks was recognized by the White House Medical Unit for coordinating hospital preparations for President Bush’s 2004 visit to Bay Shore. A spokesperson for Catholic Health Services of Long Island, she also serves on the Fair Media Council and the Long Island Association’s Strategic Committee on Health. She is a former adjunct professor for Long Island University, is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Press Club of Long Island, chair of the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council Communications Committee and vice chair of the Health Care Association of New York. Hendriks was also recently appointed as Public Relations Chair for Long Island Blood Services and serves on the NY Blood Services Advisory Committee.
She currently resides in Islip with her husband, Bill, and three children, Patricia, Erin and Sean. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in creative writing.
