	Olive Lazio of West Islip, shown center, was honored recently by the  New York State Assembly in Albany for her service as a hospital apprentice-first class (HA-1C)  in the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps.  She was one of a number of women veterans from across the state participating in special ceremonies recognizing their invaluable service to the nation. 	Congratulating Lazio are Assemblyman Thomas F. Barraga of West Islip and former Assemblywoman Patricia Acampora of Mattituck.  Lazio, whose son is former Long Island Congressman Rick Lazio, is a member of WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), a branch of the U.S. Navy. 	Assemblyman Barraga praised Lazio for her hospital corps service and WAVES participation, noting she is a role model for today's young people and an inspiration to all Americans.
