Babylon Village resident honored by St. Lawrence Univ.

Babylon Village resident Frederick Zito, was honored recently with the Alumni Citation awarded to him by St. Lawrence University. The award is given to alumni who have distinguished themselves in their profession or in community services, or who have brought honor to St. Lawrence through their professional or volunteer work.
A retired NASA aerospace engineer, Zito graduated from the university in 1947. His work included development of the technology used on the Lunar module.
Zito was previously awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in recognition of those whose ancestors made sacrifices so their families could achieve success and the American Dream.
Zito served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars. He and his wife Marie have been married for 55 years and have five children.
