Two Babylon residents honored by Babylon Town
Two longtime Village residents, Jane Warren and Robert Pasch, were honored by the Town of Babylon for their distinguished and lengthy service to the Town’s Youth Bureau. Warren was a member of the board for 25 years and Pasch for 35 years. Both retired at the end of last year.
In introducing the two volunteers, Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone called them "icons," within their community, and said that they represent "a level and depth of service that is unsurpassed."
But the two volunteers, who are also longtime friends, have extended their service over the years beyond the Youth Board. They are active in many organizations in Babylon Village including working with the Conklin Houseand Historical Society. Warren is also a former editor with the Babylon Beacon newspaper and a regular contributor.
Pasch said, in accepting his citation, that the work of loyal volunteers is a partnership.
"The work that gets done is done by two communities," he said. "The volunteer community and the government community, in this case, the Town of Babylon. Volunteers cannot accomplish anything unless they have that partnership with government, and we are thankful to the Town for that."
Town Councilman Wayne Horsley, a lifelong Babylon Village resident called Warren and Pasch examples of the best within that community.
"Throughout the years I was growing up in Babylon, I have known Jane and Bob and all that they have done for our community so this is a special event for me," he said. "Truly they have been involved on committee after committee over the years in Babylon Village, and they have also been very supportive of the Town of Babylon."
Fran Pasch, Bob’s wife, and Millard (Jug) Warren attended the event, as did Bob Meyer, executive director of the Babylon Youth Bureau, and members of the Youth Board.
