•The Babylon Public Library is offering a banjo cruise/bus trip July 19, 10:30 a.m. and returning approximately 5:45 p.m. Enjoy an all-you-can-eat lunch at Old Country Buffet then cruise the Great South Bay along Fire Island and enjoy live banjo music, dancing and sing-a-longs. •As part of the Books on Rye program, the book Blessings by Anna Quindlen will be discussed Thursday, June 9, 1 to 3 p.m.

•The library will hold a blood drive, Thursday, June 9, 2 to 7 p.m. in conjunction with the Long Island Blood Services. You are eligible to donate if you are between the ages of 17 and 75, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. Call the library or sign up at the circulation desk.

•The Bay Shore/Brightwaters Library is offering a bus trip, Saturday, July 2, to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The bus will depart the library at 10:15 a.m. The fee of $113.50 includes bus transportation, bus driver gratuity and one orchestra seat.

•Any adult with a high school diploma and a desire to help others improve their lives is a potential volunteer literacy tutor. The next five-part training series will be held in the fall. Applications are available in the literacy office or by calling 631-273-7883, extension 334.

•Friendly English conversation is held every Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and every Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon. All are welcome to join this informal class. Refreshments will be served. •On Sunday, June 5, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Rob and Patty will perform a tribute to Buddy Holly.

•Luz Tavarez-Salazar, of the New York State Citizenship Unit will speak about immigration law and immigration fraud, Monday, June 6, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring your questions to this informative seminar. Tavarez-Salazar is bilingual.

•A program in Nutrition for the Older Adult will be offered Tuesday, June 7, 3 to 4:30 p.m. Nutritionist Donna Ziemba of the Suffolk County Office of the Aging will discuss the physiological changes and nutritional needs of the older adult. A question and answer period will follow.

•The movie Bend It Like Beckham will be shown Thursday, June 9, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

•A representative from American Debt Resources, a non-profit organization will be at the library discussing all you ever wanted to know about budget planning, debt management and overall financial management, Monday, June 6, 7 p.m.

•On Tuesday, June 7, 7:30 p.m. Dr. Christopher D. Hansen will offer a program in Seven Key Factors to a Healthy Mind, Body and Spirit.

•On Tuesday, June 7, 7 p.m., David Kaplowitz, a long term care specialist licensed by the State of New York, will offer a program on protecting your assets while remaining Medicaid eligible. Registration is underway.

•Antonio Marfia, a representative from the new York State Department of Banking will give a lecture on Reverse Mortgages, a government insured program designed for senior citizen homeowners, Thursday, June 9, 7 p.m.

•On June 9, 10 a.m. Frederick Kramer, attorney-at-law, will discuss new changes affecting senior citizens for 2005, Thursday, June 9, 10 a.m.

•Yoga for Health will be offered Friday, June 3 to 21, 10 :15 to 11:30 a.m. Join registered yoga teacher Rose Dwyer for a four-week yoga course. Bring a yoga mat or towel. In-person registration is underway. The non-refundable materials fee is $12.

•On Saturday, June 4, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. a program will be held about the IPOD. In this lecture/demo workshop, you will learn how to install the programs, synchronize the device, find music and audio books online, organize your files and more. The prerequisite is that some computer experience is required. Registration is underway.

•Psychic Helen Churchwell Legotti will demonstrate "psychometry" on Saturday, June 4, 2 to 4 p.m. By touching an object, Legotti will "read" event’s past and present. Registration is underway.

•On Tuesday, June 7, 3 to 4 p.m. learn about Elderhostel, the educational and travel organization for older adults. Registration is underway.

•A lecture will be held by the New York State Partnership for Long Term Care, Wednesday, June 8, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is underway.

•The library will continue to present the Friday Afternoon at the Movies programs, 1 p.m. Call the library for details.

•The library invites senior citizens to take part in the May Art Show. If you have an artistic talent please see Mrs. MacGilvray about displaying your work in the Gallery Hall.

•The bridge players group will meet each Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group is for experienced players only. No lessons are given during this time.

•A program entitled Not All Fats Are Created Equal will be presented Tuesday, June 7 2 p.m. by nutritional speaker Carmela Gabriele.

•A three-part New York State Jet Ski and Boating Certificate Course will be held at the West Islip Public Library for adults and young adults, Tuesdays, June 7, 14 and 21, 7 p.m. The course fee is $45. Registration is underway.

•New York State Prelicensing Course will be held in two parts, Wednesday and Thursday, June 8 and 9, 6 to 8:30 p.m. each night. The payment of $40 is taken on the first night of classes when you register. You must also present your valid Learner’s Permit at that time. Attendance at both classes is mandatory in order to take the road test.
