To win the war on terrorism, we need to build and reinforce public support for our objectives Dear Editor:

To win the war on terrorism, we need to do what we did during World War II. At the start of the war our government created the Office of Warm Information under the leadership of Elmer Davis. Their mission was to build public support for the war and what we had to do to win it. As a result of the O.W.I’s good work, the public at that time was almost 100 percent behind the war effort. Colen Kelley was our national hero and our slogan was "Let’s Remember Pearl Harbor." Today we should remember 911 and the New York City Police and Firemen that helped us survive that terrible day in 2001.

On January 6, 1941 President Roosevelt made his Four Freedoms Speech to Congress. The four freedoms are: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of want and freedom from fear. Today, President Bush needs to recycle the Four Freedom Goals to promote freedom in the near east and through the world. To say that this cannot be done is not an answer we can live with. Today we need total victory and unconditional surrender. The President needs to let the world know that we are 100 percent for the Four Freedoms. This we need to do, to achieve lasting peace.
