Babylon High School Girls soccer team named 2004 Scholar-Athletes by NYS
New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Inc., has notified Babylon High School Principal Robert Visbal that the varsity girls soccer team has won the 2004 Scholar/Athlete Team State Championship. This team is also the Long Island Soccer Champions. Arrangements are underway for state representatives to visit Babylon High School and present a banner and certificate award to team members. "This is the big one," says Section 11 President Wayne Shierant, "the top award. This is great news for Suffolk County."
Additionally, all of Babylon’s varsity athletic teams have won Scholar-Athlete Awards, with each member having an academic average over 90 percent. The list includes varsity boys cross country with a combined scholastic average of 95.265; girls cross country with 94.584; varsity field hockey, 90.479; varsity girls tennis, 96.225; varsity football, 90.655; varsity gymnastics, 95.213; varsity boys soccer, 94.199; girls soccer 98.720 and varsity volleyball 93.673.
