Jacquelyn Maher-Brucia honored with NYS Woman of Distinction award

State Senator Owen H. Johnson honored Jacquelyn Maher-Brucia at the New York Senate Women of Distinction sixth annual Women of Distinction Ceremony held at the State Capitol. The awards ceremony was held in Albany, Tuesday, June 8.

Maher-Brucia is well-known for the mark she has made on the Babylon Youth Project, transforming the program. The Youth Project provides constructive recreational experiences and community service opportunities for youngsters as well as intergenerational programs that give children opportunities to serve seniors and local nursing home residents.

Maher-Brucia is also a former school board member, a member of the Babylon Pilot Club, a member of the Babylon Beautification Society, assistant to the vice president of special events for the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce. She was the recipient of the George Washington Medal of Honor for Individual Achievement Citizenship which was bestowed upon her by the Freedom Foundation.
