Rose Bagley, a resident of Copiague for 19 years, died at Brunswick Hospital in Amityville July 14, 2002 following a two-year fight against lung cancer. She was 68 years old.

The proud mother of two and grandmother of five left an imprint of love and compassion upon those she knew.

"She was an amazing woman," said her daughter Maria Carey of Copiague. "Her loving personality was what drew everyone toward her and that was what reflected in everyone she met."

‘Carey said that her mother liked to make everyone around her feel comfortable and joyful. ‘Her loving personality was really contagious," she said.

Mrs. Bagley lived in Jamaica, Queens from 1965 to 1983 where she served as president of the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus. She moved to Copiague and took a job with the Archdiocese of New York as supervisor for the switchboard personnel. She worked there for 18 years.

"She worked her whole life," said her daughter. "She got up early in the morning and came home late at night. Still, she was what made the family and was there for everyone. She was a mother and grandmother, but most important, a friend.

In her spare time, Mrs. Bagley enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and working in her backyard gardening.

In addition to her daughter Maria and her husband Daniel, Mrs. Bagley is survived by her daughter Joanne Price and her husband Charles. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Marie and Sarah Rose Carey and Matthew Neil, John Joseph and Deirdre Lee Price. Also surviving her is her sister Mary Garton of Florida. Her husband John Joseph Bagley predeceased her in 1982.

Mrs. Bagley was treated at Brunswick Hospital for breathing complications due to lung cancer. She was placed in the Intensive Care Unit a few weeks before her death where, according to her family, she received excellent treatment.

"While my mother was in the hospital, she received everything she wanted and needed," said her daughter Maria. "Everyone on the hospital staff worked beyond the call of duty. The dignity that they gave my mother before her death was amazing and wonderful."

Mrs. Bagley reposed at the D’Andrea Brothers Funeral Home,99 Oak St., Copiague. A funeral mass was said July 19, 2002 at Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. Church, Copiague. Rev. Father Angel Pastor officiated.
