The 11th annual Suffolk-Nassau Firefighters Charity Drill will be held Saturday, August 3, noon to 5 p.m. at Central Islip Fire Department Track, Wheeler Rd., Central Islip.

Over 30 fire departments from Long Island have qualified to participate in this event. Each department enters a drill team in eight events. Winners of each event and overall point winners receive trophies.

Over 2,000 people are expected to attend. Hands Across Long Island (HALI) has been chosen to help organize the event.

This year’s event will be very special. Monies collected from the Annual Charity Drill will be used to help Long Island families who were most effected by the 9-11 terrorist attacks and to benefit HALI, who will oversee a steering panel consisting of firefighters and families to dispense funds properly.
