This week at the library •Senior Advocate Joan Haugen from the Suffolk County Department of the Aging will be at the library Thursday, July 5, 2 to 4 p.m. to assist seniors over the age of 60 with HEAP, applications for food stamps, senior ID cards and more. Registration is underway. •The program Nutrition for Seniors will be presented by Dr. Fred Feldstein Thursday, July 19, 2 p.m. Learn how small changes in what you eat can affect how your look and feel and reduce your risk for developing heart disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and more. Included is air-conditioned motor coach travel, narrated cruise past Victorian homes along Connecticut’s Thimble Island, lunch at the Chowder Pot Restaurant and a visit to the shops at Hilltop Orchards. Sign-up is in progress. •A five week hands-on Computer Fundamentals course for beginners will be given at the library Mondays, July 9 through August 6, 1 to 4 p.m. This course will cover basic computer use, Microsoft Word, word processing, spreadsheets with Excel and more.
