Susan M. Clyne Memorial Fund established
Often when tragedy strikes a family with the sudden, unexpected loss of a loved one, memorial funds are established to provide support through difficult times. But for Charlie Clyne of Lindenhurst, whose wife, Susan, of 14 years, died in the World Trade Center disaster on September 11, a different approach was envisioned: creating a legacy of his wife’s work by helping the local schools. Thus, the Susan M. Clyne Memorial Fund has been established to purchase computers for the District.
Part of this effort took place Sunday, December 9 at the Lindenhurst Middle School track where a 5K Run and Fun Run for children hadbeen organized, featuring prizes and special races for children. Hundreds of local residents are expected to participate and contribute to this community effort. One hundred percent of the money raised will go directly to the Fund.
Susan M. Clyne worked as a computer analyst for Marsh Inc., on the 96th floor of World Trade Center Tower One and has a passion for developing new computer technology. Her encouragement and endless support of others was exemplified by her enthusiasm for opening up the world through a computer screen. Susan was the mother of four children, twins Michael and Marie, age 11, who attend Lindenhurst Middle School; Kevin, age 10, who attends Alleghany Avenue Elementary School and Timothy, age four, a preschooler. Ever since the attack, her husband has been working tirelessly to create something positive from this family’s tragic loss, he said.
