Christmas concert benefits soup kitchen

On Sunday, December 16, at 7:30p.m. St. Joseph’s Choir will present a free concert at St. Joseph’s Church in Babylon. It will include Handel’s Messiah, Part I, and Vivaldi’s Gloria directed by Marie Sica-Drohan and accompanied by The Sophisticated Strings and Charles Clausen on the trumpet. Immediately preceding the concert will be a candlelight procession.

The choir has sung on Fox 5 and on European national television and in the presence of many prominent figures, including Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Bevilqua, the late Cardinal O’Connor, Helen Hayes, and Ossie Davis. In addition, last March the choir performed with Dave Brubeck in New York City and is now preparing a program to sing at the Salzburg Festival in Austria in June of 2002. The choir has also produced a fourth recording on CD entitled "Ultimate Christmas Blessings," which will be available at the concert for a donation of $15 to the St. Joseph Choir Fund.

St. Joseph’s R.C. Church is located on North Carll Avenue in Babylon, one block north of Main Street and two blocks south of the Babylon railroad station. Early arrival is recommended.
