The Babylon Panthers took the Silver Bracket softball title for 9-10 year old girls in the Copiague Tournament by beating the Lindenhurst Nationals 12-5 on Wednesday August 15.
Elizabeth Spiller went the distance (six innings), fanned thirteen batters (at least two in each inning) and yielded only one hit. Her no-hitter was broken up in the last frame when Nicole Alvino singled sharply up the middle.
Babylon featured an aggressive baserunning attack and strong defensive play. Michelle Janaszak and Katie Pisciotta scored two runs apiece and both Alissa Mayo and Julie Nugent had two runs batted in. Alvino had three RBI for Lindy.
