Lindenhurst Village hosts Night Out Against Crime
On August 7, the community of Lindenhurst joined people across the nation in bringing the community together for a common cause. At 9 p.m. all the children gathered around the gazebo with their flash lights and glow sticks as a count down took place. Then all lights pointed up to the night sky as they joined communities all over the country doing the same thing at the same moment and making the same statement: "We will fight Crime and Drugs in Our Community.: The evening was chaired by the Joint Civics of Lindenhurst at the Village Square, in the heart of the village.
Sponsors included the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce, OLPH Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis Intl., Lindenhurst Rotary club and Twins Stationery. Entertainment by a blue grass band called The Burnt Potatoes was one of the highlights of the evening. Young and old delighted in free ice cream, soda, cotton candy and popcorn. Also, the antics of DD The Clown as she busied herself making balloon animals and painting children’s faces.
