Suffolk residents asked to fight hunger during September
September has been designated "Fight Against Hunger Month" by the Suffolk County Legislature. With that resolve, Suffolk County Presiding Officer Paul J. Tonna (R – West Hills) is asking all Suffolk County residents to support Legislator Jon Cooper’s call for a countywide food drive.
Participation is easy. Constituents just have to deliver non-perishable food items to their local legislative district office.
Donated food will benefit Long Island Cares, the region’s only Federal and State contracted food distribution agency. Since being founded by singer/songwriter Harry Chapin in 1981, Long Island Cares has provided over 33 million nutritional meals to Long Islanders who would otherwise go hungry.
For more information on the location of your local district office, call the office of the presiding officer of the Suffolk County Legislature at (631) 853-4088.
