WB students raise funds for tiny cause
      The first grade students of South Bay Elementary School in West Babylon recently raised funds to purchase resuscitation dolls for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit's Infant CPR Course. The course is taught by Trish Leggio, RN and is offered to the parents of newborns who are discharged from the NICU. Pictured with Nurse Manager Sue Devault, RN are first grade teachers Susan Hickey, Jeanette Brescia and Ann Lauricella who coordinated the donation. As the course grows, so does the need for more dolls.

Green-Tomek engagement
      Duane and Jill Green of Babylon announce the engagement of their daughter Leslie to Stephen Tomek, son of Carol Bales of Rochester, New York and the late Francis Tomek. The bride-to-be is a psychiatry resident at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Her fiance is a pediatric resident, also at Strong. The couple plans an October 2002 wedding.

Courtney Drossos named to National Collegiae Scholars
      Courtney Drossos a resident of Babylon Village has accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored during a campus ceremony this fall at The Pennsylvania State University August 28. The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is a highly selective, national, non-profit honors organization. Founded in 1994, NSCS recognizes first and second year undergraduate students who excel academically.

West Islip baseball team takes home the Bronze
      The West Islip 7 to 8 yr division tournament baseball team won the bronze trophy in the Copiague Tournament. After losing the first three games, the boys fought back very hard to capture the title, with the help of manager Chuck Cyr, coaches Steve Tucci and Frank Gagliardi.
