Babylon students take a learning tour of Ancient Greece
Making history come alive is the speciality of Babylon Memorial Grade School sixth grade teachers Rita Bartenback and Rick Punzone. By living the experience, students studying social studies can more completely understand what life was like in Ancient Greece. The youngsters dressed up as famous Greek leaders, scientists, philosophers, writers, mathematicians and Gods and Goddesses. Each shared their character with peers, administrators and visitors. Students’ reports demonstrated research techniques and original myths stressed creativity, all based on the study on Greek mythology in social studies classes. During the recent presentation, democracy and Olympics were discussed. Recipes were researched and a special Greek luncheon was held.
