Plans heating up for annual Country Fair
Two new acts have been added to the line-up of entertainment for this year’s Babylon Beautification County Fair, Sunday, September 9. Entertainment committee members Susan Harris, Wayne Horsley and Judy Skillen have signed a barbershop quartet and a steel band to perform on the gazebo.
Barbershop quartets and country fairs go together like hot dogs and buns - can’t have one without the other, or it seems something is missing. Founded by Village resident Frank Daloia, the barbershop quartet Top Shelf will delight old and young alike at this year’s BBS Country Fair with their rendition of favorite tunes. The group has performed at Lincoln Center and will be performing abroad later this year.
The steel band, O.V. Solomon and Steel Impressions will perform traditional Caribbean music as well as an assortment of other music, including jazz, calypso, soka, Latin and European classical music. They have performed for Lehman College in the Bronx and at a Town of Babylon event. The sound of the steel drums on the gazebo overlooking the Carll River on a sunny afternoon is as perfect as it gets.
Come to the annual BBS Fair Sunday, Sept. 9 and hear these two new groups along with other favorites, old and new.
