      The 14th annual Fourth of July Pageant by the Babylon Village Youth Project members will take place Wednesday, July 4, noon on the Conklin House Green, Deer Park Avenue at the railroad overpass.

No rubbish or garbage pick up on Wednesday, July 4
      Village of Babylon offices will be closed and there will be no rubbish or garbage pick up on Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Just a reminder that residents are asked to not put rubbish or recycling out to the curb on holidays. These items should be put out the following week on your regular scheduled rubbish/recycling day. Your cooperation will be appreciated.

      On June 9, Krista Virga turned seven years old. She celebrated her birthday with a luau party. All her friends dressed up in Hawaiian skirts and tops also adorned with leis. Krista and her friends had a great time.

Vacation Bible School
      Vacation Bible School will be held at First Baptist Church of Babylon, 300 West Main St., Babylon Village, July 23 to 27, 6:30 to 9 p.m. The school, which offers bible learning through skits, art and recreation, is for children age three through sixth grade. There is no charge and snacks will be included. To register call 631-422-0754. Please note that regular Sunday worship service is to be held at 10:45 a.m.

Announcing Jack Michael Altieri
      Michael and Ellen Altieri, of West Islip, announce the birth of their son ack Michael Altieri on May 14, 2001 at South Side Hospital in Bay Shore. He weighed eight pounds, nine ounces and was 21 inches long. The grandparents are Theresa and Peter Altieri of Babylon and Pete and Joan Cavanaugh of Florida. Peter Altieri Jr. of Babylon and Jennifer Cavanaugh of West Islip are his grandparents.

State finalist in the Miss New York Sweetheart Pageant
      Alexis Voehl, 7, of West Islip has been chosen as a state finalist in the Miss New York Sweetheart Pageant to be held August 3-5. The winner will go on to compete at the national level at Walt Disney World in Florida. Alexis, who enjoys attending acting classes and participating in gymnastics and cheerleading in her spare time, is the daughter of Antoinette Voehl.

Rev. Vitalis B. Pedzik celebrates anniversary
      The Reverend Vitalis B. Pedzik, parochial vicar at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 210 South Wellwood Ave., Lindenhurst celebrated his 40th anniversary as a priest Sunday, June 10, with a special mass at 1 p.m. in the church. A reception followed the mass in the parish school auditorium. He was presented with a Papal Blessing and a proclamation from the Village of Lindenhurst.

      Kelly Laney and Dave Picariello became engaged May 19, 2001. Laney is the daughter of Karen Laney of West Babylon and the late James Laney. Picariello is the son of Richard and Judith Picariello of Sayville. A wedding is planned for June 2001.
