Police seek public's help to nab West Babylon bank robber
The Suffolk County police Robbery Squad is investigating the robbery of the Ridgewood Savings Bank, 50 Route 109 West Babylon. Police said that at approximately 1:50 p.m., June 20, a lone white male entered the bank and demanded cash.
There were six employees in the bank and one customer at the time of the robbery. No weapon was displayed, no shots were fired and no one was injured. The robber fled on foot in a southerly direction toward the grounds of the West Babylon High School, leaving a trail of money, clothing and a rifle, which were all recovered.
The robber was described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 6-feet tall with a husky build. He was wearing a blue bandanna and dark colored sweatshirt.
The Suffolk County Robbery Squad is asking anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
