Parking fee change planned for Babylon Village: two hours for two bits

The Village presented the following resolutions and announcements at its meeting June 12:

•Babylon Village Mayor E. Donald Conroy announced that the Village would be upgrading its parking meters and establishing a new fee schedule. It will cost 25 cents for two hours to park in the business district along Deer Park Avenue and Main Street. No firm date has been set for the change.

•The final day for registration for the Village’s Summer Recreation program is today 9 a.m., to 11 a.m. at Babylon Village Hall, 153 West Main Street.

The program runs from July 2 through August 9. The following sports will be offered:

Basketball: Students must be entering at least second grade in September to register for this program. Sessions will be held in the east gym of Babylon High School, 8 a.m. to noon.

Gymnastics: Students must be entering at least kindergarten in September to register for this program. Sessions will be held in the west gym of Babylon High School, 8 a.m. to noon.

Tennis: Students must be entering at least fourth grade in September to register for this program. Sessions will be held at the tennis courts on the south side of Park Avenue, 8 a.m. to noon.

•The Babylon Village Youth Project will present its Pageant, July 4, at noon.

•Santa Dillon, Johnathan Rothwell, Christopher Toomey and Quinte Lett were hired as part-time and then full-time Village employees.

•The Village Board accepted the resignation of Lindsay Henry, who is the Republican nominee for Babylon Town Council in November. Henry said he stepped down because his candidacy could pose a potential conflict of interest with his role as a candidate to Town Board.
