Annual All-Village celebration in Babylon set for Sunday
by Bob Pasch
This Sunday, July 9, 4 to 7 p.m. Babylon’s annual All-Village celebration will explode, under the festive tent on the Conklin House green.
This all-volunteer effort features food by local restaurateurs and merchants, open bar for the duration and music by the Joel Sikowitz band. The party celebrates Babylon’s historic Nathaniel Conklin House, the 1803 home of the Village founder who gave Babylon its name.
This annual event also celebrates volunteerism in Babylon Village. Each year a free-standing plaque, the "Nathaniel," is awarded to an outstanding volunteer who, for that year, represents all the hard-working volunteers who leave their marks on the quality of life in Babylon Village. This year, Joy Torrey, the guest of honor, will take home the "Nathaniel." You’ll read of her many contributions in the program.
Chairpersons of the celebration are Doug and Barbara Chapey and Scott and Kelly Lockwood. Admission is $35. If you are one of the few who missed their mailed invitation, call Scott at 631-661-5644 or Doug at 631-669-3323. If all else fails, just show up and mention Nat Conklin’s name. This is an All Village event. While advance reservations help the planning, you won’t be turned down at the door.
