Joseph F. Somelofske, of Fairfax Station, Virginia and formerly of East Islip, died June 4, 2000. He is predeceased by his wife of more than 50 years, Genevieve V. (Jean) Wojno. Surviving Mr. Somelofske are his children, Janet and Daniel Pallen, Kathleen and Gerard Stoffel, Valerie and Mark Andreotta, Mary Lynn Gibson, Robert and Mary Somelofske, Thomas and Dorothy Somelofske, Martin and Nancy Somelofske, David and Lyssa Somelofske and Paul Somelofske. His son, Joseph Somelofske predeceased him. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lara, Karen, Julie and Daniel Pallen; John and Kristin Stoffel Foley; Paul, Meredith and Stephen Stoffel; Kimberly, Michael, William, Gregory, Ashley and Joseph Andreotta; Amy Susan and Diana Gibson; Linda and Jeffrey Somelofske; Justin, Ryan, Eric and Elizabeth Somelofske and Amanda, Alexander and Maxwell Somelofske. In addition, he is survived by his great grandchildren Kate and Caroline Foley; his sister, Helen Somelofske Afraim; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial was said at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, East Islip. Interment was in Long Island National Cemetery at Pinelawn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of Northern Virginia, Fairfax Region, 6565 Arlington Blvd., Suite 501, Falls Church, Virginia 22042. Arrangements were under the direction of the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home of East Islip.
