New LIRR car wash being constructed in Babylon Village
      The Long Island Railroad began demolishing the old railroad car wash on Cedar Street in Babylon lass weekend. The work is part of a $25.5 million project to build a state-of-the art facility for washing Long Island Railroad trains for the Babylon branch, and will take approximately two years months to complete.

An author's personal tale is told in West Islip
      Children’s author Patrice Mary Domozych didn’t plan to be a writer; her profession is teaching. But when her niece, Lauren, was diagnosed with brain tumors as a toddler, she broadened her horizon, along with her hopes for a cure, by writing a story that is helping other youngsters living with pediatric cancer.

Our Lady of the Rosary sponsors a Council Free Throw
      Our Lady of the Rosary Council No.4428 in Deer Park sponsored a Council Free Throw Championship on Jan. 23 at SS. Cyrils & Methodius gymnasium. Participants competed in both boys and girls age groups. Each participant was allowed three practice shots and was then scored on the best of 15 shots.

St. Mark's Early Music Concert Recorder-Harpsichord Spectacular to be held March 20
      St. Mark’s Early Music Concert Series will present a Recorder-Harpsichord Spectacular, Sat., March 20, 7:30 p.m. in the All Souls Chapel of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 754 Main St., Islip. The program will feature the famed Dutch recorder player, Reine-Marie Verhagen, and her New York compatriots Nina Stern on recorder and Arthur Haas on harpsichord.

      The Long Island Country Music Association will hold a Country Meets Cruisers Dance with country western and fifties and sixties dance music, Sat., March 20, 8 p.m. to midnight.       The Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of the Rosary Council No.4428 in Deer Park is hosting its annual blood drive on Mon., March 22, 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. The blood drive is being held at the Council Hall, 759 Long Island Ave., Deer Park. Derek Evans, an actor and historian, will bring the personal and public life of the 26th President of the U.S. to life in a lively and engaging living history per formance.
