•Senior Fitness: 11-11:45 a.m. on Fridays starting January 6 through February 24. Easy to follow strength training class. Registration required, $24 fee.

•Learn how to go back to school at any time: 7:30 p.m., Monday, January 9. Beryl Menger from Suffolk Community College will answer your questions.

•Play Bridge on Tuesdays from 1:15-3:45 p.m., Starts January 10 until February 28. $45 for residents, $55 non-residents. Walk-in fee $10 pp, checks made payable to the library.

•The January display will showcase artwork from St. Peters by the Sea School students as well as fantasy watercolors by artist Jarit Haletky.

•A free blood pressure check will be held the first Monday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

•When every word is a struggle: Begins Friday, January 6 at 2 p.m. and continues every Friday until February 17. For people with speech difficulties from stroke or head injury. Register in advance.

•Quilting: Saturdays at 10 a.m., begins January 7 until February 4th. Expert quilter Gloria Bleidner will instruct both novice and experienced quilters. Register at reference desk.

•Health & Stress Management Workshop: Tuesday, January 10, 7:30 p.m. This workshop, led by a doctor, will be hands on, so bring a spouse or friend if you can. Register at reference desk.

•Knitting Group: 2-4 p.m., Thursday January 12, 26, February 9 and 23. For both novice and expert. Come share patterns, problems and tips. NO registration needed.

•Young adults in grades six+ may earn one hour of community service credit by writing up reviews recommending books, music, movies and computer games to their peers. Forms for submitting written reviews, with further instructions, are in the young adult area of the library.

•Register now to see "Mama Mia" on Broadway, Sunday March 19. Bus leaves from library at 1 p.m., after matinee eat at Nonna’s, arrive home at 8:30 p.m., $127 pp includes bus, seat and dinner.

•Senior Fitness Classes: Fridays from 11-noon, starts January 6th until February 24. Gentle, easy to follow exercises for those suffering from arthritic joint pain. Bring 1-3 lb. weights, a water bottle and a face towel. Registration required.

•International Film Festival: Tuesday, January 10 at 6:30 p.m., see a French subtitled comedy, Mr. Hulot’s Holiday starring Jacques Tati.

•Understanding Elder Law & Estate Planning: Wednesday, January 11 at 2 p.m. An Attorney will discuss long term planning, living wills and Medicare, etc. Registration required.

•The library will continue to present the Friday Afternoon at the Movies programs, 1 p.m. Call the library for details.

•The bridge players group will meet each Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group is for experienced players only. No lessons are given during this time. For info. call the Reference desk after 10 a.m.

•During January, Richard Draxler will display his sculptures and Margaret Bentley will display her paintings.
