National Merit Scholars from the
Half Hollow Hills School District


Several students from the Half Hollow Hills School District were recently announced as semifinalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Competition program. This distinction has been bestowed upon the following Half Hollow Hills students: From High School East – Christopher Lowell, Arun Gupta, Stephen Schiraldi, Kunaal Sharma, Christopher Green, Jason Aaronson and Matthew Meehan and from High School West - Brett Harrison, Justin Spike, Adam Merber and Elizabeth Nicolai.

In order to be considered for the Merit Scholarship Award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements and advance to the final round of the competition. About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to become finalists and approximately half of the finalists will be selected as Merit Scholarship winners. The Merit Scholarship awards are granted to approximately 8,200 qualifying students and are worth more than $33.9 million.
