Dominican Village hosts Medicare prescription drug meeting with Congressman Steve Israel
Effective January 1, 2006, new Medicare prescription drug plans will be available to everyone with Medicare. This was good news for many of the Dominican Village residents and Town of Babylon Senior Center guests who turned out at the newly constructed Helen Butler, O.P. Hall located on the grounds of Dominican Village to hear Congressman Steve Israel give an overview of the new Medicare Prescription Drug Plans. The intent of this program is to provide insurance coverage for prescription drugs. These prescription drug plans are different from the Medicare – approved drug discount cards that phase out on May 15, 2006 or earlier if you enroll in the new plan. Eligible seniors can enroll in the program between November 15, 2005, and May 15, 2006. Individuals enrolled by December 31, 2005 will have their Medicare Prescription Plan Coverage effective January 1, 2006. Enrollees after December 31, 2005 will have to wait until the first day of the month, after the month they enroll, for their coverage to be effective. In the fall of 2005, Medicare will make available personalized information regarding choosing the best plan for individual situations via their website www.medicare.gov, as well as through, the 1-800-MEDICARE phone number. Senior citizens interested in visiting Dominican Village, including Helen Butler, O.P. Hall may contact Elaine Thompson at 631-842-6618 to learn more.
