Green Party of Suffolk announces new members

The Green Party of Suffolk County is pleased to announce three new countywide officers.

Greens from around the county met in Holbrook and elected a slate of officers. Jeannette Blaquiere of Islip was elected Secretary. Wendy Dann, who is also a member of the core group for the non-profit Healthy Planet, was elected Vice Chair. Wendy is a resident of Port Jefferson. Also elected to a Vice Chair position was Stephen Armstrong, a resident of Lindenhurst, and a committee person for the Green Party of New York State

These three new officers join Chair Roger Snyder and Treasurer Joan Kurtz, who were re-elected to new one year terms.

The Green Party is an alternative to the Democrats and Republicans, an alternative to politics as usual. The Four Pillars of the Green Party are: Grassroots Democracy; Social and Economic Justice; Nonviolence/Peace; and Ecological Wisdom.

To learn more about the Green Party of Suffolk County and its projects, you can go to www.gpsuffolk.org, or contact the Green Party of Suffolk office at 631-351-5763.

Voters may join the Green Party by checking the box that says "other" on a voter registration form, and writing in the word "Green." As a small party devoted to diversity and grassroots democracy, there are many opportunities to volunteer, run for office and serve in various committees at the local, state and national level.
