Sumpwams Garden Club news
The monthly meeting of the Sumpwams Garden Club was held September 12 and ushered in the fall/winter schedule of events. The annual luncheon will be held at Capt. Bills, Wednesday, November 2. In addition to a program by Mary Donna Kappell owner of Tuesday & Co., Floral Design in Oyster Bay, there will be boutique items, dried and fresh plant material, attic treasures and much more. This and all meetings are open to the public and there are currently openings for new members. Call 631-422-2248 if you are interested.
Antoinette Maiorini, a top award and multi blue ribbon winner and club member demonstrated spatial thrust and parallel design requirements to challenge future entries.
Plans have been made to visit the L.I. State Veterans Home in Stony Brook with materials and instructions on a holiday craft project. The roses which the club members planted there are still thriving. Two other areas the club oversees are the weeding of the herb garden at Conklin House and maintenance of the three-year-old Douglas Fir at Gardiner Manor Park in Bay Shore.
