Oquenock students in West Islip
win Suffolk council awards


Oquenock Elementary School students in West Islip, Daria Mirabella and Frank Peralta, have won places in the 2005 Creative Writing and Art Cover Contest sponsored by the Suffolk Reading Council. Entries were submitted from schools throughout Suffolk County and Daria was judged in the category of Art, grades kindergarten to six, winning third place. Frank won an Honorable Mention in Art, grades kindergarten to 12. Their art teacher is Jean Cahill. A copy of this year’s Literary Journal where the students’ work has been published, has been sent to the school.
