Deer Park First graders read most minutes in PARP reading program

Pictured is Mrs. Linda Evola’s first grade class from the John Quincy Adams Elementary School in Deer Park. Her students collectively read the most minutes during their school-wide Parents As Reading Partners Program (PARP) annual event. The class read a total of 6,183 over the course of two weeks during the month of April, bringing the entire school effort up to a grand total of 92, 658 minutes. In recognition of their efforts, the children were treated to a pizza party lunch in the principal’s office. PARP is a collaborative effort among parents, students and staff to build a reading partnership between home and school and to help foster the love of reading at home.
