Johanna Johnson, 92, lifelong area resident

Johanna Johnson lived her entire life in Babylon and West Islip. Born on May 30, 1913, she lived at 102 Higbie Lane for 28 years until moving to Cottage Row in Babylon. For the last 16 years, she lived with her daughter in West Islip.

Mrs. Johnson died June 27, 2005. She was 92 years old.

She attended St. Joseph’s School and was in the first graduating class of the new building. In 1928 she married Hewlett Johnson, whom she was married to for 63 years.

Mrs. Johnson leaves behind her children: Nancy Castro and her husband Joe, Harold, Richard, Robert, Janet Remmers and her husband Michael and Tom and his wife Betsy; as well as her daughter-in-law, Mary. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Donna Fulco, John, Michael, T.J. and Jaclynn, as well as great grandchildren: Kristen, Kimberly and Colleen. She also leaves behind her nephew John Horan and her siblings Thomas Horan and Helen Hausch as well as her beloved Labrador, Rebecca. She was predeceased by her husband Hewlett and nephew Thomas Horan.

Mrs. Johnson reposed at the Frederick Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, West Islip. A Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph’s Church, Babylon on June 30, 2005. Internment followed at Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead.
