And now the people speak

John Taggart Babylon "I am focued on natioal perspective, things like the deficit and I am concerned about the war in Iraq. It was the wrong thing to go in butnow that we are there we have to do it the right way and I think that President Bush is more committed to that."

After interviewing dozens of candidates this election season,

we got out into the streets and spoke to the voters, asking them

what they were concerned about this November as they head to the polls.

Solomon David Queens "I worry about the economy and everything to do with finances. I want peace for Israel, and strong homeland security for America. Bush has a harder, tougher hand and can better deal with what lies ahead."
Joy Scheriff Babylon "A lot of people are concerned about Iraq, but I am more concerned about what is happening here in our own country; Iÿam concerned about economic issues. My concern is for the kids and their futures. I will probably go for Bush. He has made some mistakes but he's moral not like that other guy."

Tom Krauss Levittown "I'm concerned about a possible change in the president during the war. How will Iraq view it if we change our leader? Will they see it as a weakness and think Americans aren't really as determined about the war."
Jack Murray Massapequa Park "I don't think its wise to change our leader during a time of war. We would only alienate more allies. You just don't change streams in the middle. But I made up my mind for certain in favor of Bush just the other night after Kerry made a personal attack about Cheney's daughter. I didn't think that was right."

Cecile Clauss Farmingdale "This is an important election, perhaps the most important in a very long time because of the threat of terrorism and a need for homeland security. Once that's covered, I believe everything else will fall in place."
Andrew Sobon Babylon "The price of fuel is a worry to me-heating oil and gasoline-and the war on Iraq. I am a Kerry supporter."

William Hill West Babylon "Iÿam concerned that people won't get out and vote. What I have to say is: vote for Ralph Nader."
Stanley Bloom Massapequa Park "I always vote the Independent line. The Republicans have too much power and too many positions in the state and around here. School taxes are too high and seniors over 65 should get a break on them because of their fixed incomes. The war is a waste and thousands of boys are dying for the wrong cause, or coming home to no jobs. And where is my flu vaccine? Why didn't health officials see this shortage coming?"

Mark Reff Massapequa Park "I have concerns about our country's security and the war in Iraq. I am also concerned about the economy and rising taxes and prices. You have to live here, but the taxes are so high."
Pete Giannasco Massapequa "School taxes are too high. Teachers' salaries should be capped at a certain level because they are starting out so high and quickly reaching $100,000 salaries at such young ages. My taxes went from $2,500 to $6,000 and I have to live off of social security. Something must be done. Bush should be allowed to finish the war he started in Iraq."
