Deer Park HS Marching Falcons win first place


The Deer Park High School Marching Falcons Marching Band placed first in the United States Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) New York State Marching Band Championships held at Hofstra University. The band won first place honors for Group Number One (groups are based on size of the band) in this competition with a score of 85.2 for the best Colorguard and best marching. The Marching Falcons also placed first in USSBA competitions held at Hicksville and Division Ave. and have placed in the top five at competitions held in Mineola, Brentwood, and Phoenix, earlier this year, as well as ninth at the New York State Field Band Championships in Syracuse.

Scott Abrams is the band director. He is assisted by Michael Moriarity, assistant director; Michael Giannetta, music technician; Bill Neater, visual coordinator and colorguard caption head; Kellianne Mistretta, colorguard instructor; Jon Bilby, Drill Author; Keith Karlson, Music Arranger; and Jennifer Welty, percussion instructor.
