Healthcare providers applaud King’s support of Medicare bill

Dear Editor:

I write on behalf of the not-for-profit hospitals on Long Island and across New York State to express our thanks and gratitude to Congressman Peter King (R-Seaford) for his effective leadership. Representative King is a fierce advocate for health care providers, and the millions of Long Islanders who depend upon their vital services.

The Medicare bill passed by Congress will provide prescription drug coverage to millions of senior citizens and protect our health care delivery system.

Some in Washington wanted to cut funding to our hospitals, but Congressman King fought back and won. This Medicare bill protects the hospitals that senior citizens rely on and restores some of the badly needed funding that was cut in the past. The bill helps hospitals fulfill their mission of being there for their communities 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

This is not the first time Representative King has fought for health care. Earlier this year, he authored a law bringing millions of dollars of federal health care funding to New York State.

New York State’s health care community greatly appreciates Representative King’s continuous support and we look forward to working closely with him again in the future for better health care and for New York’s hospitals.

Daniel Sisto

President

Healthcare Association of New York State
