LSD offers scholarships to preschool program

Just Kids, located at the Kellum Street School in Lindenhurst, is offering a total of 66 scholarships for regular education students residing within the Lindenhurst School District to attend their half-day preschool program this fall. Classes meet daily: a morning session from 8:30 tot11a.m. and an afternoon session from 12 to 2:30 p.m. Parents must provide transportation.

Children entering the program must be four years of age by December 1 and have a physical exam prior to beginning the program. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. To register your child, please call Linda Kaye, chairperson of preschool services, at 226-6590. The registration deadline is Wednesday, September 4. Previous applicants need not reapply.

Each class will have 18 students: 9 regular education and 9 special education. A regular education and a special education teacher will co-teach each class, with an aide in each classroom. The curriculum, titled "The Creative Curriculum," emphasizes New York State learning standards and aids in the development of emerging literacy skills.
