Writer supports Israel and editorial Congratulations to you for a truthful, insightful editorial about Israel and her fight for survival. It is disheartening to tune into CNN, the major networks and the daily local newspaper and be bombarded with the right of the Palestinians to justify their terrorist activities to acquire land that has been occupied by Jewish people since Abraham. If one studies a map of the Middle East, it is obvious that the Arab people control vast amounts of land. Israel is minuscule compared to each Arab country, let alone all their land masses put together. I wonder why no one has suggested that one or more of the Arab countries donate land to their Arab brothers, the Palestinians, so that they could have their own country in the midst of their own kind. Could it be that Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt do not want the Palestinians on their soil? How can one forget that they were massacred in Jordan. In Lebanon, they live in camps and are not allowed to own land or take part in the government. In Israel, the Palestinians own their own land and are members of the Knesset, the ruling body of Israel. When a country acquires land in a war, it is not expected to give back. Each time Israel enlarged her borders, it was because she was attacked and defended herself. Originally, in 1948, there were two states, Palestine and Israel. The Arabs attacked Israel immediately after she became a state and expected to destroy the new Jewish homeland. They were defeated. Israel did not expel her Arab citizens. She hoped to live in peace together with her enemies. Unfortunately, the Palestinians will not be satisfied until Israel is no longer a viable country. If the militant Muslims gain control of Jerusalem, religious sites of both Christians and Jews will be in jeopardy. Until recently, all people were free to visit their holy sights, protected and encouraged. Where will this go? How will this end? A suggestion. Once again, look at the map. Israel should have a natural border with Egypt and Jordan. Lands that the Palestinians live on would be part of Israel. Palestinians would be able to continue to live in their homes, work and live decent lives in their adopted country, Israel. If they could not, for religious reasons, remain in a Jewish state, the Arab countries should welcome them as immigrants. We Americans, all of whom came from distant lands, understand the difficulty of resettling. Yet, we knew that if we wanted a new life, we must begin in a new land. Let the Palestinians begin a new future in an Arab land. Now is the time, for these terror-wracked citizens of Israel, to be encouraged to live in a land with defensible borders, a land that was given to them by God, a land of peace and security.
