Richard Chatterton, 73, 21 year resident of Lindenhurst

Richard Chatterton, a 21 year resident of Lindenhurst died on March 10, 2002 at the age of 73. Born and raised in Manhattan, he attended public schools there and married his high school sweetheart in 1954.

Mr. Chatterton was a retired pension and welfare administrator in the construction industry. He later took a job working as an aide in the Lindenhurst Schools for five years.

During his leisure time, he enjoyed coaching Little League football and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Chatterton is survived by his wife Marie of 48 years and by his children: Joanne Roll and her husband William of Port Washington and Richard and his wife Rose Marie of River Edge, New Jersey, as well as by his grandchildren James, William, Jessica, Melissa, Tyler, Bradley and Emily Rose.

He was predeceased by his daughter Julianne Chatterton.

According to Marie Chatterton, Mr. Chatterton was a happy and helpful man. "He was a happy-go-lucky, a fun loving person,"said wife Marie Chatterton. "He was always smiling and helpful to anyone who needed help," said wife Marie Chatterton. "I think he will be remembered for always making himself available to others," said wife Marie.

Mr. Chatterton reposed at the Lindenhurst Funeral Home, 424 South Wellwood Ave., Lindenhurst. A funeral mass was said at Our Lady of Grace R.C. Church West Babylon Friday, Marcy 15. Interment was in St. Charles Cemetery.
