West Islip residents approved the 2002-2003 Library budget in a vote held at the Library Tuesday, April 16. The $2,337,166 operating budget was approved by a margin of 429 to 178. Daniel Garcia was elected to a five-year term as trustee with 436 votes. "The Board of Trustees of the West Islip Public Library, want to express their appreciation to all those residents who participated in this year’s vote," said Library Director Andrew Hamm. "We are very pleased by the voter turnout, and hope that this trend toward greater public involvement in the process will continue in the future."

The next major event at the Library will be the ground-breaking ceremony for the Library Improvement Project which will take place Sunday, April 28, 2 p.m.
