Ed Lane has served Christ Church faithfully for most of his 91 years

Christ Episcopal Church recently honored Ed Lane, a long-time parishioner. Lane has served Christ Church faithfully for most of his 91 years. He served in almost every capacity in the church and is still an active choir member and Chalice assistant. He is well known for his red hair and his "cold hands and warm heart." However Lane is best known for his passionate care and concern for people throughout his life. During World War II, he raised money for servicemen and was noted in the Ed Sullivan column as an "example" citizen for America. He is a definite people person and is never too busy to listen and help others.

Lane’s current work includes a history of thousands of hours of volunteer time given to residents of our Babylon community’s nursing centers. Every week he provides musical entertainment and wonderful comfort to these elderly people. He has coordinated regular services of Holy Eucharist in the East Neck Nursing Center and the Berkshire Nursing Center for many, many years. His life is a wonderful example for all of us.
