Jim Mahaney, of Lindenhurst, was elected Grand Knight of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Council Knights of Columbus in Lindenhurst. A local native he graduated from Olph Grammar School in 1955 and Lindenhurst HS in 1960. Jim served in the U.S. Army and in Vietnam throughout 1965. After service he married Judith in 1969 and is the proud father of three daughters: Karrie Allison, Judy Leigh, and Lori Beth and son-in-law Craig.
Judy and Jim are grandparents to granddaughter Allison Catherine, and Grandson Jean Patrick, Jim is a member of the Suffolk Co. Carpenters since his military discharge. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1992 and has served his council in many official capacities. He is currently teaching 7th grade confirmation at Church and additionally is a member of the Holy Name Society.
